Zombieland by Zack Handlen

The first zombie I ever saw- outside of the movies, of course- was in a cemetery. No shit, right? I mean, it’s like somebody friggin planned it or something. Anyway, I was visiting a buddy of mine, Ralph; Ralph got killed by a drunk driver when we were 10, and, okay, I’m not morbid or anything, but I liked to come by and see him whenever I wanted to clear my head. Well, I was 17, and my parents were on about college, and there was this girl, and- I had a lot of shit I wanted to get off my mind.

So begins Zombieland by Zack Handlen (book-to-film reviewer at The Duck Speaks), a serialized novel currently being updated three times a week at http://myzombienovel.blogspot.com. He’s currently up to Chapter 14; if you hurry, you might be able to catch up.

Darryl Sloan, writer/co-director/composer/co-star of the 1993 Irish movie Zombie Genocide, dropped me a line to let me know:

I’ve recently tried my hand at producing a piece of ‘podcast ficton’ by recording one of my short stories and hosting it online. I chose a newly written zombie story, ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ It’s a 28-minute read, and I hope you’ll give it a spin.
